# Quantum numbers of electrons

There are four quantum numbers of electrons and about each of them - in order.

The main quantum number N characterizes the energy level, in other words, it is the size of the energy level, the larger the number N, the larger the radius at which the electrons are located.

The orbital quantum number L denotes the shape of the region in which an electron can be located, the number L has the values s (L=0),p (L=1), d (L=2),f (L=3) and is also called the energy shell or energy sublevel.

On each orbital there is «2·L + 1» The magnetic quantum number M_{l} denotes the orbital on which the electron is located. M_{l} can take the values of ±L.

And the last quantum number is spin, it takes two values: +½ and -½, denoting, respectively, the forward and reverse rotation of the electron.

The quantum numbers of an element, or the quantum numbers of an electron, are four quantum numbers characterizing the state of an external electron in an atom, below is a table of quantum numbers of electrons of any atom:
